HOW WE DO IT
OUR PROCESS
The way we approach our projects has proven to be streamlined, in-depth, and effective.
1. Concepting Phase
At Two Muse Studios we go beyond design; we strive to capture the unique essence of each space and the individuals who occupy it. During this phase, we lay the foundation for the overall design aesthetic of the space. We take the time to understand our clients on a profound level, delving into the intricacies of their daily routines, passions, and how they engage with their surroundings. Additionally, we examine the history of the space and consider what the architectural bones are asking for, drawing inspiration from its inherent character. To ensure clarity and alignment, we employ mood boards as a visual tool to effectively communicate our ideas and ensure that our shared vision remains at the forefront of the design process.
2. Schematic Design Phase
During the schematic design phase, our team works to translate the project requirements and our shared vision into a cohesive conceptual plan. Our primary focus during this stage centers around meticulous space planning; carefully considering the functionality and flow of the space, we bring the proposed design to life in a visual manner through floor plans, lighting layouts, and furniture arrangements. Furthermore, understanding that our creative aspirations need align with practical considerations, it is during this phase that we develop a comprehensive high/low furniture budget that complements the suggested layouts. The schematic design phase serves as a crucial juncture in our design process, setting the foundational blueprints for the project, from which we continue to build.
3. Design Development Phase
Enter the heavy design phase of the project, where our concepts evolve into details and we delve into the nuances of the design. It is during this phase that we transform our agreed upon floor plans into detailed interior elevation drawings. Simultaneously, our team curates a selection of project materials, plumbing fixtures, hardware, and architectural lighting. These carefully chosen elements will be finalized before moving onto the construction documents phase, where they will be integrated into a detailed set of technical architectural drawings and finish schedules.
4. Construction Documents Phase
At the construction documents phase, ideas now become commitments. Our team will integrate all approved construction materials and fixtures into a comprehensive construction document set. This includes floors plans, lighting layouts, interior elevations, and a schedule of finishes. These documents convey the design intent, and ensure clarity and precision in the execution. It is during this phase the the project reaches a pivotal juncture, as it is ready to be sent out to general contractors, who will be fully equipped with a refined vision and precise specifications for accurate bidding. Should the need arise for value engineering, we will collaborate to implement any necessary adjustments before finalizing the design.
5. Construction Administration Phase
Leading up to and throughout construction, our role extends beyond design as we serve as a critical liaison and main point of contact with the construction team. We guide all parties to work together to efficiently and effectively execute the design intent, ensuring that the project stays on course and maintains the integrity of the design. Throughout the contractor bidding process our team aides in building out the scope of work and reviewing bids for accuracy. Once construction begins, our team conducts regular site visits to monitor progress, and should revisions become necessary at any stage of construction, we provide support and guidance to the construction team.
6. Sourcing + Procurement Phase
At the completion of all major construction decisions, our team works to refine the design direction for the project furnishings. During this phase, we will source furnishings, present design packages, design and draft custom furniture, and procure approved items. Our longstanding relationships with artisans, vendors, and fabricators around the world gives us access to timeless, quality furnishings that accurately articulate the shared vision of the space. Through thoughtful sourcing and soulful layering, we believe the furnishings breathe life into the essence of the space. Working with a white glove receiving warehouse, we ensure that as your furnishings are delivered, they are thoroughly inspected and stored safely until install.
7. Installation
The grand finale! Upon completion of construction, our team facilitates and coordinates the installation of all furnishings, window treatments, wall treatments, accessories, and artwork. Each piece is purposefully positioned and each accessory is thoughtfully placed. Our team goes the extra mile to get your space move-in ready for the big reveal… we think of every detail so you don’t have to.
